Schlabach Wood Design Announces $3.8 Million Expansion, Creation of 57 New Jobs in Coshocton County

Schlabach Wood Design, a custom cabinet and furnishings manufacturer, announced today plans to invest $3.8 million to expand operations of the company’s kitchen and bathroom product lines to meet increased customer demand. The investment will eventually result in the creation of 57 new jobs in Coshocton County.

According to Willis Schlabach, President, “We are very appreciative of the support of JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), the Coshocton County Port Authority, the Coshocton County Commissioners, and Crawford Township in providing their expertise and a financial grant to make this expansion project a reality.”

The project will include the purchase of additional acreage, construction of new manufacturing space and acquisition of machinery and equipment.

“Sales for our custom-made hardwoods cabinets for home and office have tripled over the past eight years through our national network of dealers as demand for quality hardwoods cabinets has increased,” said Schlabach. He added, “As the company has grown, we have been blessed to add co-workers into the business who share our passion for hard work and attention to detail that is inherent in the craftsmanship of our products.”

OhioSE and JobsOhio worked closely with Schlabach Wood Design and local partners on the project, which is being supported with a $200,000 JobsOhio Grant that will assist with construction and the purchase of new equipment.

“We love to see our local manufacturers grow their capacity and impact,” said Mike Jacoby, OhioSE President. “We are grateful to JobsOhio for their investment in Schlabach Wood Design and the Southeast Ohio region, setting them up for long-term success in Coshocton County.”

“On behalf of Coshocton County, I want to thank Schlabach Wood Design for moving forward with this significant investment,” said Tiffany Swigert, Executive Director of the Coshocton County Port Authority. “We are thrilled by the announcement and see the investment as a true testament to the quality products made by craftsmen in our county.

“The Schlabach family’s commitment will bring additional employment opportunities to our county and these new workers will join an environment rich in creativity, passion and dedication to producing the best cabinetry available. The port authority was proud to be part of the team that worked together to assist the company with its growth plans.”
