Name: Tiffany Swigert
Hometown: Coshocton, Ohio
City of residence: Coshocton, Ohio
Education: I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University
Occupation: Executive Director, Coshocton Port Authority
What are the main responsibilities with your job? Our office serves as the economic development resource center for Coshocton County. We connect business, industry, finance, government, and education to promote growth and prosperity.
What is a typical day like in your life? I started in July 2017; thus far, there hasn’t been a “typical” day in the office. Every day is different! A phone call or an email can change the direction of what your day, week or month may take. It is exciting! Outside of work, having two teenage boys and a husband at home, I have learned to love sports as I am largely outnumbered … even my dog is a boy.
What do you find to be most rewarding with your job? I enjoy seeing the great collaborations that are forming. There are so many people that care so much for Coshocton. The energy and the positive things that are happening right now is proof that if we work together, great things will happen.
What is the biggest challenge with your job? I have had to learn that great things take time to cultivate. Patience is so important in this job; we may be working on a project for a year prior to a public announcement being made. It can be very challenging to keep people positive during that process. Positivity can make or break a deal!
What are some things you like to do when you are not working? I love anything outdoors. I enjoy camping, boating and hiking. I really enjoy the beauty of waterfalls.
What’s best about living in Coshocton County? We are truly the friendliest place. We make everyone feel welcome here; from the waves in a passing car; to a two-hour trip to the local store due to “catching up”. Coshocton can be “HOME” to even a visitor.
What’s your favorite kind of music (or favorite singer or group)? I love Maroon 5 and Pink … but equally James Taylor and Nat King Cole.
Do you have a favorite TV show or movie? I really enjoy “The Goldbergs” and “Friends” (never gets old).
Favorite food? Pizza. I could eat pizza every day of the week.
If I had a ticket to any destination in the world, I would visit … Greece.
People would be surprised to know … In the summer of 2016 I ate not one, but two cicadas. I do not believe they taste like peanut butter.
Family: My husband, Geno, and I have been married 17 ½ years and have two teenage boys, Briar and Camden. My parents are Robert and Debbie Ford, Fresno, Ohio.
