Miba Sinter McConnelsville Praises Workforce for Success

McConnelsville Ohio, a town of less than 2,000 situated on the east bank of the Muskingum River, is lucky to have Miba Bearings and Miba Sinter as the area’s largest employer, and Miba is equally fortunate to be located in Morgan County, according to Steve
Krise, Plant Manager.

“Miba has no problem finding good help. The absenteeism is the lowest of any Miba plant worldwide, and to most employees their new job position is a step-up from their previous employment, so they strive to maintain quality products. Plus, Miba employees are trusted to operate some of the most advanced equipment in the sintering business globally, right out of training.”

The McConnelsville site began production in 2010, moving into a facility next to the Miba Bearings USA plant which was built in 2001. Initially employing 35 at Miba Sinter, the number has grown over the last eight years, now employing 250 people. The Shared Service Center for North America is also located in the facility.

APEG facilitated incentives with JobsOhio including a state Job Creation Tax Credit, a Workforce Training Grant, and financing through the Ohio 166 Direct Loan Program to assist with expansions. These investments, along with company investments have resulted in continued growth and has helped create hundreds of new jobs in Morgan County.
