Leesburg, Washington industrial parks among 8 properties ‘SiteOhio authenticated’ by JobsOhio

JobsOhio and its regional partners announced this week eight Ohio sites have been SiteOhio authenticated. When a project is verified with the SiteOhio seal, it is guaranteed to be ready for development on day one, saving businesses time and money.

Ohio’s exclusive SiteOhio authentication process designates property within the state that have infrastructure and utilities already in place, avoiding incompatible use and ensuring the property can get to market faster. Each site undergoes a usability audit to ensure it is intuitively positioned for optimal access.

In 2015, JobsOhio began working with InSite Consulting, a third-party, site-selection services consultant, to evaluate the state’s inventory of available property and identify construction-ready sites in Ohio. InSite analyzes sites across Ohio, outlining opportunities based on strengths and weaknesses and developing site-specific marketing materials to help attract private-sector investment.

Local economic development organizations across the state have the option of participating in the SiteOhio program, which was made available at no cost to communities. The program involves a commitment of time and effort associated with the collection of detailed real estate information, including availability of utilities, physical site attributes and feasibility of construction.

JobsOhio’s six regional network partners, various state partners and several utility and railroad companies collaborated with JobsOhio to develop the program, and all have committed their ongoing support.

With access to site data, a critical component to site selection, early this year, GIS Planning and JobsOhio partnered to launch ZoomProspector, an innovative, user-friendly, mobile-friendly tool that offers key decision-making data about available sites and buildings across the state of Ohio.
