Jackson County, Ohio: November 22, 2019 –– Johnson’s Emergency Vehicle Solutions is expanding operations in Jackson County, Ohio. Adding to their current facilities, the 7,000 square foot service facility outside of Coalton will support their continued growth in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky and help them expand capacity and create additional jobs in southern Ohio.
The company approached local leadership about the opportunity to consolidate its operations into Jackson County. The Jackson County Economic Development Partnership (JCEDP) and Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth (APEG) worked collaboratively to identify project gaps and put together a compelling package to incent the company to add investment and new jobs to Jackson County.
“With our continued growth, we were faced with the need to expand, but we had to decide between investing in Jackson County, where we already owned a facility or investing in our leased facility in Ravenswood WV or another location. It wasn’t until JobsOhio and APEG met with us that we realized the potential and possibilities available to us and the community here in Jackson County,” commented owners Tony and Susan Johnson.
“The company had always been a West Virginia company,” they continued, “where the original owners lived in the Ravenswood area, but today we are a three-state company. While still supporting our loyal customers in West Virginia, this new facility is central to the tri-state area and well situated for travel for our expanding mobile fleet. Thanks to Sam (JCEDP), Taylor (APEG) and JobsOhio, we believe our future is brighter than ever and we are excited for the opportunities this will bring for us and Jackson County.”
Johnson’s Emergency Vehicle Solutions is locally owned and specializes in quality emergency vehicle sales and service, both on-site and mobile, as well as a full line of fire equipment and parts. Working with their customers they can partner to provide solutions for emergency vehicle and equipment needs; from design to custom fabrications and installation of after-market parts and products for fire apparatus, cruisers, and other “first responder” vehicles.
In support of this project, JobsOhio and APEG worked together with the company to obtain a $35,000 JobsOhio Grant, and the community is working with them on an economic development grant through the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO) and Fluor BWXT Portsmouth. The JobsOhio grant will help the company cover its building and infrastructure costs.
