Intermountain Electronics Corporation (IE Corp), in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and Lawrence Economic Development Corporation, announced a significant expansion of its facility in South Point, Ohio. The $12 million expansion will create 25 new jobs.
Founded in 1985, IE Corp. stands as a trusted family-owned and operated business committed to providing reliable and efficient critical power and process infrastructure, along with cutting-edge mission-critical systems. Specializing in switchgear, pump skids, portable power, longwall controls, underground power controls and comprehensive engineering services, IE has been a steadfast presence in the industry for decades.
“IE Corp continues to invest with confidence in Ohio, where it has access to talent and a rapidly growing customer base that is driving demand for its innovative energy infrastructure solutions,” said President and CEO of JobsOhio, J.P. Nauseef. “This expansion bolsters manufacturing, warehousing and office capacity at IE Corp’s South Point facility, which will bring more jobs and improve efficiencies for its clients throughout North America.”
The new addition, located at 100 Valley Drive, will encompass 97,000 square feet, including 40,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space, 45,000 square feet of warehouse space and 12,000 square feet of office space.
“We are thrilled about the expansion to our South Point facility,” said Drew Hurst, General Manager of the South Point, Ohio facility. “This investment represents a significant milestone in our growth strategy and our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional value to our customers. The additional space and new equipment will significantly enhance our capabilities and position us for continued success.”
The South Point facility expansion will feature state-of-the-art equipment, including forklifts, welders and a new laser cutting machine, further enhancing IE’s capabilities to provide top-tier solutions. In addition to the physical expansion, this growth will bring at least 25 new jobs to the area — spanning manufacturing, engineering, and other supporting roles — providing valuable opportunities for the local workforce and contributing greatly to the community’s economic growth.
“Intermountain Electronics is a valued employer in the OhioSE region, and we are pleased to support this important next stage of the company’s growth in South Point,” said Katy Farber, OhioSE Interim President.
The target date for the completion and operational readiness of the new facility is June 2025. This expansion timeline underscores IE Corp.’s dedication to efficient project execution and our ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence.
The project was supported by a JobsOhio Grant, which promotes economic development, business expansion, and job creation by funding eligible projects. OhioSE helped the company through the process necessary to obtain assistance. The project also received support through the JobsOhio Talent Acquisition program, which helps identify a company’s talent challenges and builds sustainable talent recruitment strategies that support every stage of a candidate’s journey.
“We’re thrilled to see Intermountain Electronics expanding its operations here in Lawrence County,” said Jeremy Clay, Associate Executive Director with the Lawrence Economic Development Corporation. “This $12 million investment not only strengthens our local economy but also brings significant job opportunities for our community. Intermountain’s commitment to growth in our region is a testament to the quality of our workforce and the business-friendly environment Lawrence County offers. We look forward to supporting their continued success and the positive impact this project will have on our residents.”
