Creating 20 new jobs in Logan, Ohio
AVT Beckett Elevators announced the relocation of its Memphis manufacturing facility to Logan, Ohio. The operations will be located in the MBS Logan spec building constructed as a joint venture project between Make Build Ship, LLC, and the Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). The building was completed in 2022.
“After careful consideration, we chose Logan as our new location in the United States,” said Barb Buchanan, President at AVT Beckett Elevators. “We look forward to becoming a strong community partner and growing our manufacturing facility here in Hocking County.”
Headquartered in Pickering, Ontario, Canada, AVT Beckett is a leading North American-based elevator manufacturer whose high-quality products, friendly service, and timely deliveries set them apart from competitors.
Logan City Mayor, Greg Fraunfelter, is excited about what this investment means for the community. “This is an impressive win for our community,” he said. “We welcome AVT with open arms!”
AVT will initially employ at least 20 people at the facility where elevators are custom-designed and manufactured for customers across North America. The location is logistically situated for ease of access to raw materials and shipping of finished products to where they will be installed. JobsOhio and OhioSE were key partners in the search that brought the company to Logan.
“This is a significant win and validation of the work of the CIC,” said Leland Vogel, CEO at Make Build Ship, LLC. “After meeting with Joy Evangelista and discussing the need for flex space in Hocking County, I made the decision to partner with the CIC to construct the 48,000 SF building that will now be home to AVT.”
The relocation represents an investment of $500,000 into the Hocking County facility and is supported by a JobsOhio Grant of $75,000. The company plans to create 20 new, quality jobs at the facility.
“AVT Beckett Elevators is an industry leader headquartered in Canada, and it chose to relocate its U.S. manufacturing to Ohio, demonstrating the value of investing in sites to make them attractive for rapid investment,” said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. “The new AVT Beckett manufacturing operations at Logan Hocking Commerce Park will benefit from Southeast Ohio’s integrated transportation infrastructure, talented workforce, and location within a day’s drive of 60 percent of the U.S. and Canadian populations.”
“We and our partners at JobsOhio appreciate AVT Beckett’s confidence in Southeast Ohio and the talented workforce in Hocking County,” said Katy Farber, Ohio Southeast vice president. “The new jobs and investment tied to this project will work to further ensure the long-term future of this facility.”
Joy Evangelista, Executive Director of the Hocking County CIC said she is happy to see the building become home to a great company with a long history of growth and success. “I expect to see that growth continue here in our community,” she said.
“The CIC decided to take the risk and construct a building,” said Keith Hood, President of the Board of Trustees for the Hocking County CIC. “Today we reap the reward of that risk. We welcome AVT Beckett Elevators to Logan!”
