Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and the Hocking County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), today announced an investment of over $440,000 to improve its facility in Logan, Ohio.
Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company is a leading manufacturer of high-quality organic bonded specialty abrasive grinding wheels. The company produces an extensive range of grinding products and custom engineers each formula to meet the customer’s specific application. The company opened its specialized manufacturing facility in 1956 and the facility remains one of the oldest manufacturers in Logan, Ohio. The facility has been under the same family ownership since 1984 and just celebrated its 40th year in business.

This vital upgrade ensures our facility remains fully operational and allows our team to build upon the legacy my dad started in 1984,” said Alexandra Marchetti, President of Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company. “We’re a proud member of this community, with many members of our team having worked here for decades. We look forward to growing our Carbo family and continuing to create jobs for the community of Logan, Ohio.”
The facility was specifically designed to support the manufacturing process of abrasives, including many structural and industry specific modifications. However, due to the integrity of the 4th floor roof, production has been hindered. The investment from JobsOhio will support Carborundum’s investment to replace the roof and maximize production capacity on the 4th floor, which will help facilitate the creation of three new jobs.

This investment is supported by a $50,000 JobsOhio Small Business Grant. The JobsOhio Small Business Grant provides grants to support the growth of small businesses that face unique challenges because they are either located in a qualifying zip code or are owned by an eligible population, which includes minorities, women, veterans, and people with disabilities. To qualify the company must have an eligible project and meet business size and industry requirements.
