Ohio’s well-known industrial history combined with its optimal location has allowed it to lead the way in vehicle production. Ohio ranks #1 in production of engines and #2 in transmission production. Over 1.1 million cars and light trucks were produced in 2018, the 4th most of any state in the nation. 680 businesses in Ohio directly or indirectly supply motor vehicle assemblers. Nearly 110,000 people are employed statewide in the motor vehicle and related industries. Ohio is home to major Honda, Ford and Fiat Chrysler assembly facilities.
