The Spot on Main Growing Operation in Jackson County

The Spot on Main, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership today announced it is investing $58,000 in its downtown Jackson facility.

Founded in 2017, The Spot on Main is a woman-owned business currently providing coffee and other provisions. Owner Jenny Massie is planning for her company to roast its own coffee and expand e-commerce capabilities to broaden the reach of products.

The company’s investment will be used for equipment and upgrades to its two buildings in downtown Jackson.

“I’m excited to continue investing in the Jackson community by growing our offerings at The Spot on Main,” said Jenny Massie, owner of The Spot on Main. “When we began this journey a little over six years ago, I just wanted somewhere to get a good cup of coffee. Now, we’re launching our own roastery and e-commerce platform to bring our good cup of coffee all over the country. Thanks to our local economic development partners, The Spot on Main has access to resources like the JobsOhio Inclusion Grant to help us dream bigger and do more right here in Southeastern Ohio.”

JobsOhio supported the project with a $50,000 JobsOhio Inclusion Grant and Ohio Southeast Economic Development assisted the company with the grant process. The Jackson County Economic Development Partnership has offered revolving loans and workforce assistance. The growth will result in The Spot on Main adding one new employee and retaining eight employees.

“The Spot on Main has become both a downtown destination and institution,” said Sam Brady, president and CEO of the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership. “Jenny Massie has long been one of downtown Jackson’s biggest advocates and cheerleaders, and our team could not be more thrilled for this expansion. The Spot on Main’s e-commerce platform adds an exciting new dimension to Jenny’s tremendous vision for the company and Jackson’s downtown.”

The JobsOhio Inclusion Grant exists to provide financial support for eligible projects in designated distressed communities and/or for businesses owned by underrepresented populations across the state. Eligibility requirements for the program can be found at Inclusion Grant | JobsOhio.

“The Spot on Main helped catalyze the revitalization that downtown Jackson is currently enjoying while providing excellent products for the community,” said OhioSE Vice President, Katy Farber. “We are pleased to collaborate with The Spot on Main as they begin to manufacture their products.”
