Ohio Valley Bank, Gallipolis, Recently Awarded Grant for Expansion

OVB groundbreaking, Gallia County

APEG, through JobsOhio, recently supported Ohio Valley Bank with a $200,000 Revitalization Grant to assist in the redevelopment of five underutilized adjacent parcels on Second Avenue in the City of Gallipolis, Gallia County. This grant is a small part of the overall project, as OVB will spend in excess of $7 million, with the scope of the project including renovating one historic property, buying three adjacent parcels, demolishing an existing building on two of them and building a new addition in its place.

The cornerstone property of this project, 366 Second Avenue, built in 1896, was the original office of Ohio Valley Bank. The building was designed by prominent architect Frank Packard. (Packard designed President Warren G. Harding’s home, numerous county courthouses in Ohio, the Old Ohio Governor’s Mansion and the Bryn DU Mansion in Granville.)

The company expects to occupy the renovated and new structures with some or all of the following functions, providing centralized services to the company and subsidiary (Loan Central):

    • Corporate executive offices and support staff
    • Marketing and communications staff
    • Accounting department
    • Trust department
    • Investment department
    • Compliance and audit departments

The company is one of the largest employers in Gallia County. The project will retain 240 full time employees.
