Mullet Cabinets, Inc. Expanding in Holmes County

Mullet Cabinets, Inc., in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE) and the Holmes County Economic Development Council, today announced it has committed to investing at least $3.27 million to expand its existing manufacturing facility in Hardy Township, Holmes County, and has plans to invest up to $3.6 million.

A family-owned and Ohio-based company founded in 1975, Mullet Cabinets, Inc. originally made cabinet drawers and doors for sale to other manufacturers. Over time, the company has established a dealer network in 13 states, selling complete custom-designed cabinets for residential and commercial applications. The company has 204 full-time employees at its existing 120,000 square foot facility.

The company’s manufacturing capacity is currently strained by business demands. Mullet Cabinets, Inc. will construct a 24,000-square-foot building addition, purchase new machinery and equipment to double its output of drawers and doors, and improve manufacturing flow through its facility. The project will result in the creation of 20 new jobs over the course of three years.

“Our vision is to be uncommon in everything we do,” said Vince Mullet, president of Mullet Cabinets, Inc. “That goes for the products we provide to the manner we serve our staff, customers and community. This building expansion is another step in allowing us to continue to carry out that vision.”

JobsOhio supported the project with a $65,000 JobsOhio Economic Development Grant and Ohio Southeast Economic Development assisted the company with the grant process. The Holmes County Economic Development Council is working with the company to obtain assistance through the Ohio Enterprise Zone program. The HCEDC supported Mullet Cabinets with tax abatements for two previous expansions.

“We were pleased to learn of Mullet Cabinets’ plans to expand its production operation,” said Mark Leininger, executive director of the HCEDC. “The current project is the third time the company has expanded its facility since it was originally constructed in 2012. We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with OhioSE and JobsOhio to help support Mullet Cabinets’ growth and we wish the company continued success.”

The JobsOhio Economic Development Grant focuses on fixed-asset and infrastructure investment by companies. Those investments can include land, building and infrastructure, as well as machinery and equipment.

“Ohio Southeast Economic Development is pleased to support Mullet Cabinet’s expansion,” said OhioSE President Mike Jacoby.   “This is yet another project that will enhance the reputation of Holmes County for woodworking productivity and craftsmanship.”
